I defrosted some frozen rib eyes that were purchased fresh then frozen at home. They had been in the freezer for about 2 months. I put a rub on it, and poured some chriyaki marinade on it as it was defrosting. Now it has been a full week for me to get around to cooking it. It had been in a tightly closed Tupperware especially for marinating, and it smelled fine when I opened it, although just a little darker in color that when purchased. I attribute that to the salt ingredients in the rub maybe?
